Amy's feature directorial debut, BENAVIDES BORN, which she co-wrote with husband Daniel Meisel, premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic Competition. The film earned Amy the L’Oreal Paris Women of Vision Award at Sundance and the Adrienne Shelly Excellence in Filmmaking Award at the Nantucket Film Festival. Maya Entertainment released the film theatrically and on other platforms under the new title ALL SHE CAN in 2011, and it made its broadcast premiere with HBO in 2012. ALL SHE CAN launched digitally via Sundance’s Artist Services Program in 2013.

Amy is a 2004 alumna of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Film Program. Each of her film school shorts, WEIGHTLESS (2001), COVERED GIRLS (2002), and BODIES (2004), earned festival awards and all of them aired nationally on either IFC or Showtime.

In her pre-film days, Amy earned a B.A. from Cornell University, taught 7th grade English and History for Teach for America, earned a Masters in Education from Stanford University, and climbed 8,000-meter peaks, including an attempt on Mt. Everest.

Dan co-wrote and produced the independent feature BENAVIDES BORN, which premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Maya Entertainment distributed the film theatrically under the title ALL SHE CAN, and it aired on HBO. Dan has continued to partner with his writer/director wife, Amy Wendel, on the writing and development of feature film and episodic television projects.

Dan previously wrote, produced, and provided legal services for award- winning short films, including BODIES (2004), FOREIGN POLICY (2005), and COVERED GIRLS (2002), which enjoyed widespread festival screenings and airings on the Independent Film Channel and Showtime Networks.

Before turning to film, Daniel was a litigation attorney with San Francisco's Cooper, White & Cooper.  He has written book and film reviews for Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine and The Lancet.

Dan earned a J.D. from U.C. Hastings College of the Law, was a Member of the Hastings Law Journal, Chair of the Moot Court Board, and served two terms on Hastings’ Alumni Board of Governors. He earned a B.A. with Honors from Wesleyan University’s College of Social Studies and has served in local and national board leadership roles for non-profits focused on civil rights and educational opportunity.

Susan Kirr worked as a journalist in Tokyo, Dallas and Austin before segueing into the film industry. She earned an M.F.A. in film production from New York University and has worked in the film industry in the Southwest for 15 years. She has produced the independent features All She Can, Winter in the Blood and When Jack Went Glamping and also served as a producer on the Amazon pilot for I Love Dick. She has production managed/line produced feature films for Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life), Michael Winterbottom (The Killer Inside Me), John Sayles (Honeydripper), Richard Linklater (A Scanner Darkly), Doug McGrath (Infamous), James Marsh (The King), and Harmony Korine (Spring Breakers), as well as the Fox TV series Cosmos. She resides in Marfa, Texas.

Originally a still photographer, Hauer transitioned into moving pictures while attending New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Film Program. He lensed Cary Fukunaga's 2005 Sundance short VICTORIA PARA CHINO and in the same year received the Best Cinematography award at the Breckenridge Film Festival for Topaz Adizes's SEVEN MILES ALONE. He returned to Sundance again in 2008 with Rob Meyer's AQUARIUM and again in 2010 with Sara Colangelo's LITTLE ACCIDENTA. Rob's other cinematography credits include two Tribeca premieres, THE COMPANY MAN AND BLUE BOY, the 2009 feature documentary MARIANA OF THE ZABBALEEN, and Jeff Büler's thriller, INSANITARIUMI. Jade Healy Jade Healy, Production Designer

From stylized psychological thrillers to independent comedies, Jade has designed an incredible range of acclaimed films. In 2008, she designed Ti West's THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival to rave reviews, including praise for its production design. The following year, Jade collaborated with Joe Swanberg's romantic and seductive ALEXANDER THE LAST, which premiered at the 2009 South by Southwest Film Festival where another of Jade's films, Lena Dunham's TINY FURNITURE, won the Jury Prize. In 2010, Jade had two films premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Josh Radnor's HappyThankYouMorePlease which won the audience award and Zeina Durra's THE IMPERIALIST ARE STILL ALIVE! This past summer, she designed DETACHMENT for director Tony Kaye starring Adrien Brody, Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks and William Petersen.

Born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, where he majored in Film and Video Production, Andres's passion to capture other people's journeys and stories led to his involvement in over 20 projects for television broadcast and leading non-governmental organizations such as Canal + and Human Rights Watch as a producer, editor, director and/or cinematographer. In 1998, Andres traveled to New York and earned a certificate in Filmmaking from NYU's School of Continuing and Professional Studies. He was the Director of Photography on the upcoming ITVS-funded documentary WHAM! BAM! ISLAM! which will be airing on PBS's Independent Lens in 2011. His first foray into editing feature films, SACRED GAME, was awarded the Best Thriller Feature at The New York International Independent Film Festival in 2009.

Amy Maner, a Texas original and twenty-year film veteran, is a true director/actor's designer. With an MFA in directing/acting and a background in fashion, Amy's international experience and knowledge creates a foundation for a well-balanced design. Some of her recent credits include, SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA (Robert Duval), BENEATH THE DARKNESS (Dennis Quaid), PREDATORS, PUSH, SPY KIDS, MISS CONGENIALITY, and LEAP OF FAITH. Amy utilizes an analytical, hands on approach and an unparallel attention to detail in the design process. When not on a film set, Amy enjoys triathlons, organic cooking and hula hooping to 80's music.

Pam Garcia Pam Garcia, Associate Producer

Born and raised in South Texas, Pam Garcia has taught Theater Arts and Speech at San Diego High School in San Diego, TX for 17 years. She has directed her students in the Texas State One Act plays every year, twice competing at the regional level. Before dedicating her career to arts education, Pam acted in, directed, and choreographed a number of local and regional productions often at the Harbor Playhouse in Corpus Christi, TX. For 10 years, she was a member of a bilingual theater company in association with Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX that traveled throughout Mexico and the U.S. performing in schools, prisons, hospitals, and other state agencies. Garcia became involved in BENAVIDES BORN during its early development, introducing the filmmakers to the community. She later helped workshop script ideas with local students, assisted with casting, and served as a local liaison for the project during development and production.
